Wandererer's Pass Empty
PostSubject: Wandererer's Pass   Wandererer's Pass EmptySat Sep 08, 2012 1:35 pm

The pass between the two mountain ranges that protects the Dancing Stones Pack's valley, Wanderer's Pass is the only safe way to reach the pack's territory if you are unfamiliar with the mountains above. $
Loners and potential pack members enter the pack's land through this pass, drawn in by the scent prey and water.

Wandererer's Pass Empty
PostSubject: Re: Wandererer's Pass   Wandererer's Pass EmptySat Sep 08, 2012 1:52 pm

The sound of rain hitting the earth hissed throughout the territory as a deer bounded over the land a brown streak against the green as it desperately tried to escape its pursuers, left, right, it leaped and dodged around fallen trees and undergrowth before bursting out into the open ground just before the pass. Behind it following like a harbinger of death the dark pelted wolf continued after the deer, its breaths heavy but even as its powerful legs propelled it forward paws barely touching the ground as she seemed to glide over the land. Like a shadow she stuck stubbornly with the deer even after it fled into the pass, water flowed off of her pelt like mini water falls, droplets cascading down her shoulders or flung away behind her by the motion of her movements. Leaping the small stream- now over flowed to twice its size due to the seemingly endless storm they had been experiencing- Rayen chased the deer into the pass.

She could feel the presence of her pack behind her as they too took part in the hunt, their excitement and lust for blood building with her own adrenaline and desires to spur her on even farther. Suddenly the animal slipped the sound its hooves clattering on stone ceasing as it let out a startled cry as it hit the earth, the fall was quick and within seconds the deer was back on its feet. But that was the opening Rayen had needed and like a hawk she swooped in leaping up and biting into the deer’s haunches she viciously hung on as she slowed the prey even farther allowing her pack-mates to come in for the kill.

Suddenly the sound of a deep rumble caught the wolf’s attention; far from the usual thunder she had come to ignore this sound was not only heard but felt deep down in her bones. Releasing the deer Rayen looked up to see a wall of earth plummeting toward the pass bellow. Startled Rayen let out a horrified cry, shouting. “Move!” Although the majority of the mud, rock, and earth would not hit the pack if they were to remain where they were, several tons of rock and earth still strayed away from the rest and headed toward them. Leaping out of the way all Rayen could do was hope the rest of her pack responded in time as the wall of earth slammed into the ground several meters away from her tail.

(OOC: member simply role play the hunt and the landslide out I will reply with the next instructions.)

Wandererer's Pass Empty

Akindo's ears shot up in alarm, her pupils dilating and she felt something cold race through her body. It was fear. Her fangs were embedded into the deer's tough and thick neck, but the fear that clenched her body was so numbing she could no longer feel the tangy blood running down her throat. Even the deer had frozen into a stone, it's ears pinpointed in the direction of the sound before it too, the fear already quivering in it's eyes from the wolf attack bucked and bronked. Too shocked from the sudden noise that had burst it's way through her eardrums, Akindo had lost her grip on the deer's throat and with one good kick, Akindo fell back through the air, hitting the ground until all the air compressed out of her lungs.

Akindo just barely heard Rayen's surprised and frightened yip before she had time to even recover from her fall. She flipped back onto her paws, her mind already racing ahead of her body. She didn't even bother another glance at the prey, which was now bounding away in awkward strides in the same direction as Rayen was bulleting off to. But Rayen wasn't chasing the deer anymore; she was running for her life.

Akindo shot after her.

Wandererer's Pass Empty
PostSubject: Re: Wandererer's Pass   Wandererer's Pass EmptyMon Sep 10, 2012 2:16 pm

As the landslide slammed against the ground Rayen felt the impact deep within her bones, causing her to shutter. Worry for her pack had gripped her heart like eagle's talons ever since the danger had begun; now it threatened to give her a heart attack as she whirled around to see if her family had made it through the event unhurt. When she saw the forms of her pack-mates she nearly sunk to the ground in relief, her legs felt weak as she let out a sigh before she assessed the damaged caused by the slide. Composing herself the female approached the mass of dirt and rock that now cut off their access to their territory. Shaking her head slowly she turned to her pack and announced. "I will not sugar coat my words to make things slide down easier,” she paused to look each of them in the eye, "Its obvious we are cut off from our territory, we will need to leave the pass and search for another way to enter our land. I want the more experienced wolves to travel at the edges of the pack the young, and old within the middle. Seeing as Misty is our only Topaz she will travel in the center of the group, we are small but our spirits and fangs are strong."

Approaching them Rayen's mind was a flurry of thoughts, as they traveled they needed to have scouts preferably two searching out the land around about to alert them to approaching danger or possible difficulties when traveling. But their numbers were small and to send out even one wolf weakened them greatly, again she shook her head. It was a risk they had to take, and so she spoke once more. "We will need a wolf to scout ahead, normally I would send them with a partner but I fear that this time we do not have enough to safely do it. I will not force anyone into doing this job, together it is risky, alone it is dangerous. Speak up if you wish to volunteer, if none approaches then we continue into the unknown." She would have volunteered herself to go out and scout, but being the leader she had to remain with her pack to offer them support, comfort, and orders if something should happen. With that she flicked her tail for them to follow, not waiting for them to speak if someone wished to come forward and volunteer they new where she'd be first they had to get out of the pass. With no water or food it was a place one did not wish to dwell in for two long, its tight corners and confined space made it a near death trap for large bodies of wolves moving through making her grateful for their small numbers.

Upon exiting the pass Rayen lead her pack along the equally barren land, moving silently but swiftly her eyes, ears and head constantly moving to take in the land. Black nose twitching she took in the various smells that floated through the air, she felt exposed no longer having the mountains surrounding her, now they traveled along open ground allowing one to see far and wide able to spot anything or anyone who approached long before they became a threat. But it was the same for them; any wolf, predator or prey could easily spot the small pack traveling along. This was what saved and doomed the pack, for as they traveled the snarls of wolves reached her ear as their forms came into view. halting she watched wide eyed as a mass of wolves snarled and tore at something, it was only when a large brown wolf snapped at the smaller canine causing it to reel back with a yelp that she saw the carcass of the deer her pack had been hunting earlier.

Signaling for her pack to be silent Rayen moved on giving this pack a wide birth as she headed for the woods off in the distance. Distracted by the dead deer the wolves had not yet learned of their presence and Rayen wished to keep it that way as they moved farther and farther away from them. When they were about halfway to the forest a started bark caused Rayen's heart to stop as the wolf alerted its pack to their presence. Not wasting a second the dark female launched forward in a run all signs of a silent retreat gone as she lead the others to the forest.

(When you have posted here proceede to the Four clan's territory and post after me.)

Akindo sighed, drawing her head up to reach her leaders. "I can scout if you wish." She nodded, having experienced fending for herself multiple times.

As they came across the dead deer, Akindo bristled when she saw the wolves tearing at it and a fimiliar scent washed over her. If anyone meant to sink their fangs and taste the delicacies of such a catch it was meant to be the Dancing Stones Pack, for they had wounded it and almost killed it themselves if not for the blast.

However, Rayen was already moving swiftly away. Akindo followed.
